Welcome to our 1st Ballan Scout Group. Scouting is the world's number 1 youth organisation and we thank you for choosing our Scout Group. Your son/s and/or daughter/s are about to embark on a wonderful journey full of adventure, laughter, friendship, choice, challenge and discovery. Scouting can take your family anywhere - locally, nationally, globally. The opportunities available to all members within the Scout Association are enormous and we look forward to helping shape your child's Scouting future. 1st Ballan is a fantastic family group engaging all members of all families and we look forward to your active participation.

The Aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development of young people so that they take a constructive place in society as a member of their local, national & international community.
At 1st Ballan we try and achieve this through three youth sections where your child/ren are encouraged to engage and develop through active involvement:-
More than anything the Scout Uniform is what significantly identifies you as a Scout. Each Section of the Australian Scout Association has it's own unique uniform making it easy to identify Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers & Leaders. The uniform is always wore with pride, and is worn to and from all Scouting events.
The uniform is to be purchased by the family prior to investiture & can be worn straight away. Uniforms can be purchase online from The Scout Shop. While hats are essential for outdoor events, and the jumpers keep you warm, the shirt is the only item that needs to be purchased for your child's investiture. If you require assistance to purchase a uniform, please talk directly to Bruce Hallett, our Group Leader.
The Scout Shirt is the main item of uniform you will need to purchase. Joeys will need a Joey Shirt as this will be the main item of their Scouting Uniform.
However, other items that may be helpful for your son/daughter may include a Scout Hat and a Scout Jumper. As with the Scout Uniform, these can be purchased online from The Scout Shop.
